1. Hydrophobicity
The surface of active calcium carbonate is coated with organic active agent, which has strong hydrophobic properties, which is a significant difference between active calcium and inactive products. The identification method is also relatively simple: take a small amount of product and place it in clean water. After a certain period of stirring, most of the product will be suspended on the surface of the water. If the water is clear and not turbid, it is activated calcium; if all or most of the product sinks into the water If the water becomes turbid, it is an inactive product.
2. Liquidity
Because the surface of activated calcium product is coated with organic active agent molecules with lower surface tension, its specific surface energy is lower than that of non-activated products, the viscosity resistance between particles is reduced, and the flow performance of particles is improved, so the powder has a similar liquid The fluidity of inactive products is significantly poorer. Attention should be paid to the comparison under the same conditions of temperature, humidity and product moisture.
3. Dispersibility
The dispersion difference can be seen from the active product's good flow properties. Due to the good dispersion, the active calcium product exhibits good compatibility and dispersibility with the base material during the application process. The penetrating ability of the particles is also strong, and it is easy to form dust. The products packed in ordinary woven bags have a large amount of dust during the handling and use process.
4. Different particle size
As the active calcium product surfactant reduces the surface energy of the particles and weakens the particle agglomeration binding force, the particle size of the particles will be significantly reduced. Scanning electron microscopy can clearly distinguish between active calcium and inactive calcium products.
5. Different oil absorption values
The particle size of the active calcium product is reduced, so that the void ratio between the particles is reduced, and the microscopic surface of the particles becomes smooth and flat. Therefore, when the oil absorption value of the product is measured, the active calcium product is lower than the inactive product.
6. The content of calcium carbonate is different
The general organic active agent content in active calcium products is 1.0-5.0, so its calcium carbonate content is 1-5 lower than inactive products. The smaller the particle size of active calcium products (such as nano calcium carbonate), the higher the surfactant content, the lower the calcium carbonate content.
